So far I've just stuck with SONAR on Windows for combined midi and audio recording, doesn't look like it's got midi editing on it but I'll check it out.
Well, reading over the pages at the Ardour site I have found an answer to my question of what a good soundcard for this type of thing is. It seems the recommended soundcard runs around $550. hmmm...I may have to hold off on this project. I don't think I'd want to dive right in with a purchase like that and just hope that I can get the thing up and recording.
I guess I'd also have to get some high quality speakers as well. I wonder if anyone has any documentation on building a Home Recording Studio with Linux. Off to google....
Hopefully it'll do the job - try it out once my hangover lightens up in about a week or so. Be could to hammer one more nail into the windows dependency coffin.
If anyone wants a laugh here's my contribtion to the world of rock n roll so far: Cover Your Ears
Record companies haven't been beating a path to my door yet, I wonder why
