archiving the logs


with what or how can i archive the log files in /var/log/ ... maillog syslog ...
i want to archive only those that are to large :> so i need a script or duno something like newsyslog ... the archive must be in .tar.gz format or .tgz and also i must set the path where it should put the archive somewhere in duno /home/backup or something :>
pls help me out ppl

Try doing man logrotate ... I'd love to explain everything in detail, but I really don't use logrotate that much. Sorry
