apt-get for Slackware!
i was going through Linuxpackages.net and here: http://www.linuxpackages.net/details.php?name=apt-get i found Debain's AFAIK great package tool. I was wondering if anyone has it on their Slackware, or if anyone tried it i beleive it might be really great to use this to fetch new packages but i dont know if its a good idea...
Any comments, suggestions? P.S. the apt-get im talking about was ported to Slackware, it's not the original Debian, but the modified version for Slackware. |
I personally wouldn't put too much faith in it, but I can't say as I have not used it. Since Slack uses the more universal .tgz extension, I think your chances of it being a Slack specific package could be 50%-50%...I could be wrong, but it's always worth a try anyhow. Would love to know if it works well enough to get. Right now i'm content on sticking with the slackware-current directory in updating all of the crucial parts.
