Hello, I have installed the Apollon P2P applicaiton everything installs well I can run and download files off of it. Yet I go to install the Fasttrack plugin I get a message telling me that the application may have been installed incorrectly, but then I removed the plugin and it works great. Also the OpenFT plugin will not login. Can anybody lead me in the right direction?
Before running apollon, execute gift from console:
giftd -v
now launch apollon and look the console for error messages which could help you track down a possible solution
If you run GiFT from a console, you'll probably find that there is an error with the FastTrack plugin as its looking for a config file in your ~/.giFT/FastTrack directory. I created the directory, as it wasn't there on mine. Then I copied the files "banlist FastTrack.conf nodes" from /usr/share/giFT/FastTrack/FastTrack.conf. I didn't change the file at all, but it ran fine for me. Its the Gnutella plugin that shuts mine down. LOL
Try disabling the gnutella plugin and restart the program. Does Fasttrack work? That's my problem, I think. They don't want to agree with each other. I'm almost tempted to puzzle through installing mlDonkey. That one actually works if you can get it installed and you can add soulseek and eDonkey to the stable as well.
I had the same problem - here's the solution I got from giftproject.org. It worked great. However, the program still crashes all the time unless i disable gnutella....
: Why do I get startup errors trying to load specific protocol plugins?
A:
By an overwhelming margin, the two most common reasons for this are that the user (that's you) has either specified the name of the plugin incorrectly, or the plugin has not been completely or correctly configured prior to giftd invocation.
If you are receiving errors actually opening/executing the protocol plugin, make sure that the name of the plugin you specified in the configuration file matches the name of the plugin that you downloaded (case matters!). If you are still having problems, I recommend running giftd -V | grep PLUGIN_DIR to determine where giftd is actually searching for the plugins. Examine the contents of the directory, and make sure that you have correctly installed the plugin (you should see a libPLUGIN.so file in this directory).
If it appears that the log file and/or error output is suggesting that the plugin has not been configured correctly, you should make sure to run gift-setup after installing the plugin. Please note that some plugins do not use the gift-setup configuration system and must be manually setup. The most common example of this is gift-fasttrack, which requires that the user (in some cases) manually run mkdir $HOME/.giFT/FastTrack before the plugin will start. Hopefully this behaviour will be corrected in future releases of gift-fasttrack.
