Hello, I am running CentOS 4.6 (Final) and have an APC UPS attached to the box via USB/Serial cable. I have apcupsd 3.14.08 running on the box. The daemon initially starts ok, but then after a short time (not even a minute), I start getting console messages:
Code:
Broadcast message from root (Thu Apr 28 08:31:36 2011):
Communications restored with UPS orion
These persist for a couple of minutes, then go away. Then after a brief pause, they come back. Here is what netstat -an |grep 3551 shows:
Code:
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:3551 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32912 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32902 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32906 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32904 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32910 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32908 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
Occasionally I am seeing established connections:
Code:
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:3551 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32922 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32920 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32926 127.0.0.1:3551 ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:32924 127.0.0.1:3551 TIME_WAIT
tcp 8 0 127.0.0.1:3551 127.0.0.1:32926 ESTABLISHED
This is the only process that is running:
Code:
root 2882 1 0 08:13 ? 00:00:00 /sbin/apcupsd -f /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf
Occasionally there is also a [defunct] apccontrol process as well.
The apcupsd.conf file is set with the default values, which as far as I could tell did not merit any changes.
Can anyone make any sense of this? It appears as though there is a link, that then fails. I'm not sure how to resolve this.
