Question apache2 heap overflow error ?

Well I'm in a nice little pickle here. I am getting this error in my /var/log/apache2/error_log:

[Thu Jun 29 15:03:50 2006] [error] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] ALERT - canary mismatch on efree() - heap overflow or double efree detected (attacker 'xx.xx.xx.xx', file '/path/to/web/site/file.php'), referer: web.site/index.php

I'm using:
mod_php-4.4.0-r9
apache-2.0.58

And I have no idea what that error means or how to fix it. All I do know is that if I browse to any of my websites they won't load at all... but my non-php websites load just fine. Can anyone shed some light on this? I should mention that I updated my apache just a few days ago and right after that is when I started noticing problems... I'm dumb, please help me!
