I new to this whole thing and about 2 weeks after trying my first install all apache and all that good stuff i got it all to work. My question is how do I allow user to upload there files on to my server? (like I want to upload file onto my linux computer from my XP computer)
either you can use Samba settings or you can upload files using some FTP S/W(on windows machine) . like give the ipaddress of Linux computer into FTP S/W with user name and passwd (try to connect) and go to that directory and try to upload. but make sure you have set all R+W+X permission for that user. then only your user can upload file into that directory. Also, first you need to add users into Linux computer computer.
Yes, any FTP server should be installed on your computer. and make sure it's runining on . (command 'chkconfig <ftpserver name> on') on command prompt. also, you can use 'vsftpd' or 'wu-ftpd' server.
