Question Apache settup failure

When I boot my computer up, it lists all devices and tries to start Apache and fails. From my terminal box, I try to start apache and that also tries and fails. When I open my Mozilla and type "localhost" I get an error message "Connection deinied to local host".
I internet connection works fine. I am using RH 8.0. Please give me some wise advise. I have verified that apache is installed.

Sincerely,
Luke

Is there any error message when you try to run Apache? If yes, paste it there.

Here's one thing to do: look in the apache logfile.

Just an update, nothing on my computer works, except for OpenOffice (Micro$oft dejavu). I want to break my computer with a baseball bat. But I will wait to see if the techies at the "install Fest" on Jan. 11 can deal with all my problems.

if you type in:

/usr/sbin/apachectl stop
/usr/sbin/apachectl start

what do you see?

I suppose the file is installed

in fact to run the apache , you do it via httpd
you can run it at boot :
run the setup program, in the services you check the httpd

to run it , from xterm,
/etc/init.d/httpd start

to check if it is running
ps aux | grep apache
you get several lines with apache

to check now :
run in netscape (or any browser : http://localhost
