apache proxy_add_forward_module doesn't work

I'm trying to configure my apache to send a HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR to my webserver so that i can log visitor's ip's.

I know that new apache releases have this built in, but the server i'm working on is pretty old

anyway, i've compiled the mod_proxy_add_forward module and then i addes this line to my http.conf

LoadModule proxy_add_forward_module libexec/mod_prox_add_forward.so

this line is correct since my configtest doesn't return any errors.

The strange thing is that after restart apache doesn't send the http_x variable.

Did i forget someting?
