Apache + PHP (with GD+MySQL support)... non-compiled?
Hello all,

I have a slight problem. My aging server seems to overheat when compiling software from source, and since my last system install, I have been stuck without Apache :( I've cleaned out the fans as best as I can, but I think the server itself is nearing the end of its days. *moment of silence*

What I'm currently researching, is how to install (if possible) Apache with PHP support; however, I'd like to have GD, GZIP, and MySQL available in PHP as well, since the web sites I tinker around with are all PHP.

I've been reading up on Apache with DSO plugins (as opposed to compiling features into the httpd binary), so I guess that's a start.

This is a Redhat 9 system, though I have made apt-get and yum available, and so have those repositories available for installs.

Eventually the server will be replaced, but until I can scrape a bit of $$ together to get a decent system, I'll have to make do with what I have, hence my research :)

Best regards,
- Peter

Can't you just rebuild the php and apache rpms on another redhat 9 machine?

It's possible, but I don't have identical hardware, so not very plausable.

I did find a way, however... apt-get allowed me to install apache, php-mysql, php, gd, and image magick... so it appears everything works nicely now.
