Question Apache not working

When I installed RH, the apache webserver package that came with it don't work at all, I attempt to start the apache service and it errors, with no error message. Same thing happened to me with both RH8 and RH9, is it something i've done wrong during isntallation or what? I done a full install everytime. Apache works when I install it afterwards, but the original don't, and php won't work either, it keeps asking me to save the .php file when I try going to it on my site, and i've compiled them both the way I was told the to the last time I posted about this.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

How are you trying to start it, can you post up the exact code you are using? Can you also post up your config files (usually httpd.conf)
One more thing, try running:
apachectl configtest
To see if there's a problem with your Syntax and to see which config file it's pointing to.

Cool

well for the original apache i was using the services GUI to start it, and for the apache i install i use the prefix/bin/apachectl start like it says on the apache website, im kind of new to this stuff so sorry if im being newbish http://www.wazuh.com/httpd.conf.txt is my config for the apache i installed, didnt feel like pasting it on here so i done that, the main thing im concerned with is php not working

Uncomment this line:
Code:
#LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so
You'll also need to:
Code:
AddModule mod_php4.c
And:
Code:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3
Restart apache, ensure your php.ini is correct (should do that first actually) and test it. Assuming you did build the 2 correctly (php and apache) it should work.

If not, read here and try again:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.apache.php

Cool

Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

maybe try a 'make distclean' and re-run the configure script with the options.
