Apache, MySQL, PHP, a couple simple questions.

Ok, I've installed apache2, mysql, and php. Now I want to install phpBB, just for something to play with in my slack.

1.) First, I heard that phpBB is just a drop in and configure kinda thing...IE:just moving all the right files to a certain location. If that's not right, please fill me in a little bit of how this process goes.

2.) The other thing is, I don't know where to put the content that I want to show up on my server.
When I go to http://localhost/ I get the apache2 installation success page, and I can't find that success page anywhere so I could say, replace it to start making a site or something.

I don't know anything about phpBB,

but I run Apache2 and the default place for publishing your html site would be /var/www/html.

Hope this helps.

I've found where my apache root folder is.

I put the files into that dir under 'forum'

Now I can see all the files from http://localhost/forum

But whenever I try to go to anything like http://localhost/forum/index.php it shows the html code (or whatever it is) instead of a site. How do I make it show the site?

You need to install PHP.

There's the download package from www.php.net
Install instructions are in the manual.

Hope this helps
