apache is skipping index.html

I'm running ubuntu and i've installed apache....the only problem is, is that apache doesn't seem to want to load my index.html file from the Document root. It goes straight to the Apache Server info page.

I am able to load the page if I go to:

http://localhost/index.html

so obviously the document root is set correctly. I just can't figure it out!

If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

thanks - spicy

Well,

it seems my configuration files were set up for Virtual Hosts and I was not using them so......

Well all I did was comment out the virtual hosts line and voila.

It worked.
