apache directory

hi

when someone wants to enter a directory on my apache server if they type:

http://myapacheserver.com/directory

they cant acces the directory and get a connection refused error

but if they type

http://myapacheserver.com/directory/

they can access it

the / at the end of directory makes it work

how can i configure apache so it works when

http://myapacheserver.com/directory

is typed without the / at the very end

thanks guys

Not sure which version of apache you're using (1.3 or 2.0), but go to the apache website and click on the documentation for the version you use, then click on 'URL Rewriting Guide'. Then search the page for 'trailing slash'.

[edit] Or you can search for 'apache trailing slash' (no quotes) here in the forum, since this question gets asked about once a week. [/edit]

Enjoy!

You'll (probably) find your apache manual, on your server here:

It's something to do with your 'UserDir' directive i think.
