apache 1.3.26 & mp3 files?

I'm using an old AMD233 PC as a simple web/file server. I installed Mandrake9.0 on it with only apache, proftpd, and X (along with icewm). It has been working great except for the fact that i can't access mp3 files off of it. I can access all other media types fine - html, wmv, mpg, jpg, avi, asf. When i try to access an mp3 file it gives me the 403 error - "Forbidden". I tried lookin through httpd.conf but i couldnt find anything relating to mp3 files. This happens with every mp3 file. Could this have something to do with the RIAA? Help is appreciated - thanks.

You shouldn't have to add anything for mp3 as default, it should ask to download the file. What are the permissions of your mp3 files you have and how are you trying to access them thru the browser, in the directory index listings or linked from a web page?

thanks - problem solved. For some reason all my mp3's were converted to root access only, but i copied them along with the rest of my website to my ftp server (I work on the site from a different machine). I checked read access for "Group" and that seemed to work. Didn't feel like like pullin out the handbook and lookin up the chmod commands lol.
Im still a newb.
