Anyone here using Movix2? The standalone DVD player? Need some help

I am currently trying out the new MoviX2 player. I burned the iso to a cd, and it is supposed to boot inside X and has a built-in Mplayer gui version. I did this without any problem, but as usual, Mplayer detects the Asus DVD-rom as /dev/cdrom, so It won't play the DVD discs. I encountered this often with Mplayer installed on linux installations, and have to change my mount as /dev/dvd for dvd movies to play. I plan to give this CD to a person whose totally unknowledgeable in LInux, I don't expect him to change the mount. Am I missing something? I read somewhere that it was supposed to detect the drive as DVD on startup.
