Any tips on how to reduce kwin's cpu usage?

I asked this once before but it seems I posted it at the wrong time of day or something...

Kwin (Fedora 15) is using a staggering 35% of CPU right now and I am not sure how to go about troubleshooting this. Any ideas? Thanks!

Disable blur effect in kwin , look at setting resolution lower

Plasma and special effects can eat up to 7 to 15% of cpu...

Has been discussion about limiting the Opengl in kde.. Done through Arch Linux..

At some point, kwin got a re-write to make it more efficient; that must have been around the time that your version of Fedora was released, so, if you have the pre-rewrite version, or the one just after, of kwin, have you the possibility of getting a newer version of kde?

My version of KDE is 4.6.5 - how would I get a new version? I don't see any in the F15 repos...

I don't use Fedora, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't some repo that had a later version of as much general interest as kde; is there anything here (the hint here seems to suggest that rpmfusion may be what you want)?

Failing that, it would have to be an upgrade to a newer Fedora.

KDE 4.7.4 for fedora 15

"kde47.repo" http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/kde-red.../15/kde47.repo

( Packages http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/kde-redhat/fedora/15/ ).

Well, you can just add the required repo
http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/kde-redhat/fedora/kde.repo

rasqal-0.9.27-1.fc15.i686 is in [kde-unstable]

All kde-redhat/fedora http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/kde-redhat/fedora/
( Be careful ).

Are there additional settings that I need? Now the error list is even bigger.

Note: I made sure that the unstable repo was enabled.

Just an update... doing that KDE upgrade UTTERLY wrecked my KDE and forced me to do a total reinstall of the entire X system; even reinstalling KDE and removing KDE settings wasn't enough to save it.
