Any point changing to ALSA

I've been looking at ALSA. I have a via 82C686 southbridge chip which seems to work fine with the kernel drivers. Is there any point going over to ALSA?

Not unless you want to use a package that
demands ALSA to be installed :)

Never change a running system :}
