any mpeg players that use framebuffers?

is there any mpeg players (particularly dvd players) that use the framebuffer to output their video?
also, shouldn't 266MHz and 288MB ram be enough to show smooth video even with dvds/?

googl for SMPEG - not sure if it has a DVD plugin but it definitely can run on a PII> faster based system

I'd be curious to see if he could. With a bit of tweaking and a good(ish) vidcard, he might have acceptable playback

Only if there happens to be a supported hardware MPEG decoder in that box...

Additionally, xine may be configured to output to framebuffer, IIRC.

can anyone please point me in the direction of a supported hardware mpeg decoder card?
also, do i have to have a separate monitor for that or does it go through my ati rage 3d video card?
