i want to practice some networking stuff for which i require more than one linux station. i hear that VMWare serves the purpose. i got vmware5, but i am not able to boot LFS when i invoke vmware from RH. While configuring a new virtual machine, i chose to use an already existing partition where i have installed LFS (i cant 'install' LFS since i compiled it myself and do not have a bootable cd). but LFS refuses to boot and simply gives the grub prompt. i configured vmware to boot from LFS boot partition. The /mnt/lfs/boot/grub/grub.conf file did not exist. so i made one which looks like this..
Code:
# Begin /boot/grub/menu.lst
# By default boot the first menu entry.
default 0
# Allow 30 seconds before booting the default.
timeout 5
# Use prettier colors.
color green/black light-green/black
# The first entry is for LFS.
title LFS 6.1
root (hd0,9)
kernel /lfskernel-2.6.11.12 ro root=/dev/hda11
pls suggest a solution
well that apart... are there any FREE alternatives for VMWare? (even a command line tool [if it exists] that acts similarly to serve my purpose would be excellent)
TIA
