Antivirus software for Linux, question.

As I saw SUSE 9.2 have included ClamAV and AntiVir. Can I use these softwares to scan infected hard drives of Windows based machines?

Thanks

It should work fine. They usually scan for all viruses. I have found a few windoze bugs on my machine and I don't have windoze. As long as the drive or partition is mounted, it should work.

Note of caution: If you have NTFS, I would mount as read only. They support writing but, big but there, I have read of people messing up when writing data to NTFS. It has been a while since I read any of those but be careful at least.

Hope that helps.

Apart from mounting the drive using captive, NTFS is still UNSAFE. Always mount ntfs partitions read-only!!!!

I was thinking it still had issues. I have used vfat and such before with no problems. I don't even have a way to make NTFS. No windoze. lol
