Hi Y'all,

This is a wierd one to me.

I have RH8 and it has been install for a long time.

The problem is the when I create a new file with VI and I start to either shell script or do php my color codes are not displaying anymore.

Now if I take a old file that I scripted a while back the is no problem the color code is there and also for anything new I add to the file.

I tried to use telnet from another pc or Secure/CRT (which I always used before).

I set my term to either Linux or Ansi
I didn't make any changes to /etc/bashrc nor .bashrc

Any ideas on what it could be?

does vi pick up the highlighting from the filename for new files? some editors will only do it on opening an existing file. that means you will need to tell the editor the format of the file manually when you create it. I'm only guessing though I use nedit not vi.
