Annoying modem sound when connecting
Hi ppl
after finding a modem driver for my conexant chipset a started using linux :-) but the noise when modem is connecting is very annoying how can i turn it off??? thanks :-) |
use at command:
atM0 which will set modem speaker to: off ;) anyway, you should make a search for at commands on the net. |
Are you using Kppp? Check the Setup... -> Modem tab for a Modem Volume slider. :)
If you're using scripts like pppd-up, or I think wvdial, see the Modem Commands... tab instead which tells me the volume off command for the modem is M0L0, instead of M1L1 or M1L3. |
I've got the same modem and it is a winmodem. It's a modem/soundcard combo, so apparently the M0 command doesen't work...
UPDATE: I used KMix to turn down/mute the speaker. Look for it in KDE (K Icon->Multimedia->KMix), and turn down the 'Speaker' slider all the way...hope this helps you like it did for me. |
