Animas EZManager Plus

I'm looking seriously into porting a program I use for managing my diabetes to linux. The program is called Animas EZManager Plus. I am looking very seriously into porting this program into a Linux usable application. Here's what I need it to do:

-Using a Serial IR "dongle", communicate to an insulin pump (drivers will hopefully be made available by Animas Corporation)

-Using various Serial connectors, connect to different Blood Glucose Meters (dido)

-Graph blood glucose readings etc. and make them printable.

-Read that page for more. I think you might have to manually change the link to pr_ezmanagerplus_2.shtml etc.

My quesiton is this: What language is appropriate? What books can I read? Who can I go to for help? If you have any ideas, please let me know. By the way, as a perk, if you have any questions about diabetes feel free to e-mail me, I think I can answer just about anything you can throw at me.

Thanks very much,
-Peter
