An easy question about XMMS

Ok very very new linux user here so be gentle. I am an avid music listener and I went to play my mp3s in red hat 9 and i got a message saying that red hat has removed the mp3 support. How do I get around this?

Or you can go to the XMMS website and download the newest version which includes MP3 support.
