Amarok/ xine engine suddenly stopped working

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I have a problem with amarok's xine engine. Up till now everything was fine (it worked just perfectly), however it suddnely stopped working. When I try to play anything, amarok just freezes. When I switch to gstreamer engine everything works fine. I've got no idea what have I messed up (I don't believe that it stopped working just by itself). I tried to uninstall amarok and associated packages + purge configuraton (excluding ones from my home directory) files and then reinstall it, but that didn't help. Is there any way to log what exactly is going on when I try to play a file?

I have Debian Etch, KDE 3.3.2 and Amarok 1.2.4

Ok, a little update. I've noticed that some other applications fail to initialize sound (Quake 3 for example). So it seems to be a general sound issue, not only xine engine for amarok. However GStreamer engine works fine, also MPLayer plays OK. In syslog I found something like this:

Sep 5 19:40:42 localhost modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for sound_slot_1

Could this be related?

Ok, I know how to solve the problem. It's some kind of configuration issue with xine engine. Removing ~/.xine directory helps :]
