Amarok install/Qt

Hey,

Trying to install amarok to listen to some tunes....

When run ./configure, all goes well untill I get this error..

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!

I've got Qt 3.1.3 installed, but do I need 3.2? If I do, where do I get it from, cause I can't find it! :P

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Unfortunately, all of the new Amarok builds strictly require KDE 3.2 (and therefore QT 3.2) in order to run. You'd need to install KDE 3.2 to get Amarok running.

...or, you may be able to install an earlier beta of Amarok instead. From memory, anything below 0.7 runs in KDE 3.1.x. Check out www.kde-apps.org for the Amarok listing.

Cheers,
Tim

Hey, thanks for the answer...

I'm downloading the Mandrake 10.0 Official ISOs just now, might as well update the whole lot :P

Good call. I upgraded to MDK 10.0 and found to be a lot less buggy than people say it is (especially if you're downloading the "Official" release -- I have the "Community Edition" that was released a few months back. It's a bit less polished.)

If you're interesting in going bleeding edge and you've got nothing to lose (I assume your stuff will be back up with the reinstallation of MDK 10.0), it might be worth upgrading to KDE 3.2.2 while you're at it. I found the that 3.2.2 is a lot stabler that 3.2, and it helps iron out a few issues with MDK 10.0.

Unofficial MDK 10.0 KDE 3.2.2 packages can be found here:

http://www.heger.ch/linux/sagittariu...3.2.2_mdk10.0/

I did "urpmi --auto-select --force" and it worked fine. Just follow the intructions on the site if you're going to upgrade.

Cheers,
Tim
