Amarok Doesn't Like My MP3's
Hello,
I Just Installed SUSE 10 64 bit Edition Last Night, I Went To Use Amarok To Play My MP3's on my mounted NTFS drive..but it wouldnt play, ive been spending all day doing research on how to fix this...ive downloaded arts, helix, mad, every plugin or engine i could find but it still doesnt work...im quite frustrated and out of ideas, realplayer DOES play them but it sounds so horrible id rather take time to solve this problem...
PS:the actual problem is ill click a song or playlist and it just skips to the next song till it gets to the end...my sound card is installed and working and the only time i get errors is when i try to install a different xine library...
help me please! i wanna finish this so i can move onto vid card and cedega >.<

not sure about your other problems, but check your mixer to see if the PCM volume is up too high. If it's all the way up, try setting it at 50-75%. Sometimes 100% causes distortions.
Hope you get the rest of your problems fixed.

might sound stupid, but this exact thing happened to me. make sure to check that your files are actually
mp3 format. if they are m4a, or whatever the itunes extension is, then amarok is unable to read them. this
happened to me.

mp3's dont work
I have the same problem as fallenfantasy. No progam in suse 10 will not play mp3's or any other format of music or video including mpeg's, .avi's etc. I am new to linux and really liking it so far, but I really have no idea what is going on.

I had a similar problem ..
I changed the settings of sound engine to xine and now it works..
Settings->Configure Amarok->Engine->Sound System->Xine.

Step one, uninstall xine (assuming you still have the SuSE default Xine).
Install xine from a packman site:
http://packman.links2linux.de/?action=124
Make sure the xine engine is installed for amarok.
Select the engine: Settings->Configure Amarok->Engine->Sound System->Xine.
Should sound great. Gstreamer is also a good engine. SuSE by default uses the helix engine..which..well, sucks for me. The default xine that is installed by suse doesn't come with mp3 support.

I had the same problem.. for me, the mp3 would immediately skip to the next song until the end of the playlist like you stated.
If the mp3 is actually playing but you have no sound then check in the Audio Controls and make sure everything is enabled and turned up (that has also happened to me).
Anyways, here's your solution:

On suse you can install new packages by going to YAST (the green icon with the wrench), then go to software managment and enter your root password, yast will load up and read all the package repositories you have and then you can search for and install packages.
Also, you should probably follow the link above and follow the instructions on how to add those repositories.
