Amarok 'Could not read AudioCD'

I'm having an interesting problem with Amarok on a Slackware 11.0 box. I can login as root, start KDE, open Amarok, click on Engage/Play Audio CD and it plays perfectly. However, when I do the same thing logged in as an ordinary user I get the message 'Could not read AudioCD'. I did an extensive search of the forums before posting and couldn't find any entry that addressed this specific problem. If anyone has any suggestions I'd certainly appreciate them.

Make sure your USER account is a member of the group to which the CDROM drive belongs.
If necessary, make sure the access permissions to the CDROM's device node/symlinks in /dev is such that USERs can access it.
It sounds like basically a permissions issue.

Thank you very much! Added the user to the 'disk' group and Sheryl Crow is sounding great.
