AM_PATH_GTK macro

ok...i updated my gtk package about two weeks ago, and now everytime i try to compile something using gtk, i get a "AM_PATH_GTK - macro not in library" - apparently this was related to a bug in autoconf or automake or something - but i haven't been able to find any fixes for it. anyone ever managed to get rid of this error before?
