Alt - Tab in gnome
Hi,
dead simple question for anyone in the know. how do you switch back to your desktop when running a full screen game? i find it rreally annoying not being able to alt - tab back to my other running apps when i have a game running full screen as per Windows. does anyone know how this is done? surely when they designed X/gnome they must have put this essential little feature in somewhere. thanks Dan |
<Alt> + <Tab> does work in Gnome - or at least, it does for me.
Have you tried <Esc>? |
Yeah, while in full-screen, the game will "take over" the keyboard and Alt+Tab won't work.
Anyhow, while there is no standard key stroke to change the game from full-screen to window mode, Alt+Enter is a generally used one. When in window mode, you can then use Alt+Tab to change application. Alt+Enter again to go back full-screen. |

Kenny, yeah, GnomeShell is pretty cool, but how is it relevant to the poster's question?
At least SDL-based games, which is pretty much everyone, capture the keyboard when in full-screen mode, and Alt+Tab or any other window manager keystroke won't work then. |
