alsamixer: PCM front attenuator always @100 when starting.

Hi:
I use to reproduce audio program sources (e.g., FLAC files)
with mplayer, run simultaneously with alsamixer, in order to
set levels to appropriate values. In alsamixer, until
mplayer is running, the 'PCM fron' attenuator does not appear
on the screen.

The problem is this: every time I run mplayer
the 'PCM fron' attenuator must be readjusted, because it'll
be at 100%. And I can run 'alsactl store' as many times as I
like but it'll be of no use. Any suggestion will be welcome.

Look in the ~/.mplayer/config file. The volume could be preset. Also there are different audio output driver settings. One setting is alsa, and another is alsa. Run "mplayer -ao help" for a complete list.
