Alsa sound problem, RH9, 2.4.20-8 modprobe mismach 2.4.20-8custom
First of all sorry for my english, but is not my first language;)
The last week my old motherboard decided to get me out of his way, he crased. I had to bought a new motherboard with the $ or € that can represent that. I use Red Hat 9 with the kernel 2.4.20-8, and the sound card is detected in a bad way, my new motherboard is Asus A7v8x, in google i found a lot of people using this motherboard, with a sound working properly, but only with the alsa modules... So after a few minutes (or hours) of search i found that people use the via82xx alsa module to control the sound. The instructions of the installing this module are told in this page: vvvvvv.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php3?company=Analog+Devices&card=AD1980&chip=AD1980&module=via82xx People talking about the problems and solutions of the installation is in this other page: vvvvvv.linuxquestions.org/questions/archive/18/2003/05/3/58078 and here: vvvvvv.linuxquestions.org/questions/archive/18/2003/03/1/35469 I followed all the instructions, configuring compiling and installing the modules.... but in this step i have problems: modprobe snd-card-via82xx the answer is: Can't locate module So i searched the module and is in /lib/modules/2.4.20-8custom/* instead of /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/* (I supossed that the custom folder was created when i compiled the kernel to make work my old usb modem). i realised that modprobe only works in the default folder /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/*, not in the customed. So I tryed 2 thigs: 1ºCopy the sound folder from customed folder and update the modules.dep 2º Or, before compiling the module, i made: ./configure --with-moddir=/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/ --with.....* The result in the 2 ways when i tryed to make modprobe was somethig like: module compiled for 2.4.20-8custom, :tisk: version mishmach 2.4.20-8 I lost my nerves hours ago, aaaaa, My questions are: How can i run modprobe in the custom folder and not in the default one? May be i lost somethig reading instructions of other people? Is there a better way to make run my sound? Should i still listening my voice singing instead of my stupid soundcard? What is brong? Lalalalalalala Thanks for ur time! |
I also use a A7V8X-X with Redhat 9.0 with kernel 2.4.20-9.
I installed the ALSA driver, utils, and lib using a rpm from freshrpms.net. When i use "play" to play wave file, it seems like its playing, but i dont get anything out, no errors either... Still cant get any sound after i tried everything i can find on the web, still verymuch a newbie, so if anyone can help that would be great... Jamie |
