ALSA, emu10k1 modprobe has to run about 15 times

Ok, I have been looking for a solution to this all morning, any help would be appreciated though luckily this isn't a show-stopper.

I have installed ALSA 1.0.0 rc5 and it is working fabulously. But when the computer boots, it has to modprobe the device about ten or fifteen times. here's a portion of dmesg (there is other output but it's on boot and hard to capture. I believe the error is something like "No device found". like I said it does eventually work and lsmod shows that it has loaded and is using ALSA modules.

dmesg snip:

Any ideas?

TIA

edit:

It's also probably worth mentioning that it's a SoundBlaster Live! Value, and Gkrellm volume plugin identifies my sound card as a SigmaTel 9721/23, which is most definitely is not.

This looks a lot like my old notebook system. It's probably decided to create heaps of module aliases for the soundcard driver. Post the soundcard section of your /etc/modules.conf and I'll see what I can do with it.

Have you installed any soundservers other than ALSA?
