all video players crash

Ever since I installed Mandrake 9.2 I haven't been able to play videos. I've tried mplayer and totem or something like that. Both of them crash as soon as they open. Any ideas?

I am using the nvidia driver.

You're using the binary-only driver provided by nvidia? If so, try the open-source nvidia drivers provided with xfree86. The binary-only drivers work well when they work...but sometimes they don't work.
