The short answer would be to copy /etc/shadow.bk to /etc/shadow, check the permissions/ownership and see if that fixes the problem.

How did you use pwconv and what errors are you getting at the moment when you try to login?

when I run pwconv, it generate /etc/shadow

I will mv bk file to /etc/shadow If I can use root login, the problem is now when I use root login, it shown password failure!

Fedora 8 is already setup to use shadow passwords. You have no reason to use pwconv. Restoring your old /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files should fix the problem. It's likely only the /etc/shadow file needs fixing.

Do you have a rescue CD or DVD that you can use to boot with? Once you do that, you can mount your hard disks and restore the shadow files.

You should be able to use it. I haven't used Fedora for a long time so I don't remember what it contains. Try booting your box with it and then use the mount command to mount your root partition under (for example) /mnt/harddisk. Then use your favourite text editor to remove root's password from /mnt/harddisk/etc/shadow
