I'm using Mandrake 10.0 and I'm trying to set up a webserver using Mandrake's advx (which comes with Mandrake). Basically, adxv is just a modified version of apache (see advx.org). But the default installation of advx has a little icon thing that appears in the browser next to the URL. The icon has the letters 'advx'. How can I change/remove the icon? Thx.

That icon is a file on your docroot called favicon.ico... Many websites will create a reference to it to get non-IE browsers to pick up the file. The reference in HTML files looks like this (in the head section)--

<link REL="shortcut icon" HREF="/favicon.ico" TYPE="image/x-icon">

IE will automatically request this file from a website whether it is referenced or even exists. I see 404 messages in my log files for this like you wouldn't believe.

How to get rid of ADVX? Delete that file. Or replace it with your own. Do a search on google for 'make your own favicon.ico' for info on the file format, etc.
