Advice on the output of sensors???

Hi! Just got sensors running correctly! cool!

1 - It alarmed me about the low vcore voltage. Should I really be alarmed and do something? This computer is running about an year or more like this without problems.
2 - Can it be confused about which sensor is which? How come the system is hotter than the cpu?
3 - What is this p/s fan?

frank:/home/bruno # sensors
via686a-isa-6000
Adapter: ISA adapter
CPU core: +1.77 V (min = +1.99 V, max = +2.49 V) ALARM
+2.5V: +2.61 V (min = +2.24 V, max = +2.74 V)
I/O: +3.44 V (min = +2.95 V, max = +3.62 V)
+5V: +4.97 V (min = +4.47 V, max = +5.49 V)
+12V: +11.80 V (min = +10.79 V, max = +13.18 V)
CPU Fan: 5487 RPM (min = 3000 RPM, div = 2)
P/S Fan: 0 RPM (min = 3000 RPM, div = 2) ALARM
SYS Temp: +40.7°C (high = +45°C, hyst = +40°C)
CPU Temp: +32.8°C (high = +60°C, hyst = +55°C)
SBr Temp: +25.2°C (high = +65°C, hyst = +60°C)

thanks!

Hi.

sensors doesn't know exactly how to decode the information from all motherboards. As an example, I had to add a multiplier to my CPU temp to get a reasonable value. (The multiplier value was buried in the documentation for lm_sensors). You can expect some weird values if you haven't read through the docs and adjusted for possible weirdness associated with your particular motherboard.

The other thing is that on-board sensors are notoriously inaccurate. Don't trust them. My motherboard is currently reporting that the air temp. is 35 deg C, and I live in Scotland. The only thing the sensors output is really good for is comparative values. The min/max values are pretty much arbitary, and can be changed in the config files, so don't put any faith in them either.

If your system is running fine and has been for a while, then don't worry about it.

Dave

P.S. the P/S fan is for the power supply fan speed, wich is almost never connected to the motherboard on normal ATX PCs
