Advice on finding a good mp3 player with android remote control for headless box.

Hi all,

I'm currently using squeezecenter software connected to a softsqueeze player. My audio system is connected to the audio out of my computer.

Squeezedroid on my Android phone controls the squeezecenter and my music is organized in a folderstructure (so no mp3 tags).

The goal is to have as much control as possible through a webinterface/android remote since the whole thing runs on a box without monitor.

Although this works pretty good, I was wondering if you could share some experience or advice with other software that does this job?

Thanks!

J

Hello,

On my main system, I use xmms for playing my music. I just leave it playing, and whenever I'm not on it, I use my Nokia N900 via SSH to remote in, and give the remote commands. Not sure if SSH is the route you would want to go, but it is a more secure way to do it.

Cheers,

Josh

I would recommend MPD. There's loads of MPD clients.

Thanks for that, I couldn't think of what that was called at first, therefore why I didn't mention something about it. I used to use MPD a while back, and I could either use the command line to control it, or a GUI front end.

Brilliant! MPD installed and I'm using mpdroid on my phone. Exactly what I was looking for.
