adobe photoshop coming to linux?
is it true that adobe are writing their photoshop for linux? ive heard rumours, i hope they do!
I haven't. I know they released a photoshop GUI for Gimp though. Can search for the link on slashdot.
you could run photoshop using wine or crossover
cheers for the speedy reply, i couldnt get the photoshop gui to work:
(gimp-2.2:3921): Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwidget.c: line 5592 (gtk_widget_set_size_request): assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed im not sure what that means and i dont really want to use crossover office or wine, (sorry). but thanks anyway |
I was under the impression that if you knew Photoshop, you probably wouldn't have much trouble picking up The Gimp. Maybe you don't really need the GUI.
I think that the rumours of Adobe porting Photoshop to Linux have been around almost as long as Linux itself.
I'll believe it when I see it. |
I'm really not somebody who makes pictures all day in windows, so I don't care either way. My interest in Adobe is only rivaled by my interest in Macromedia- which is none.
to be honest i dont really use either and if i do its gimp, but its for my gf and she uses photoshop for some hardcore designing class at uni, and is fed up of working (trying to) on w$. she has seen mac's and likes them but has just forked out for a new pc.

Honestly, I don't need Photoshop coz I'm in love with Gimp 2.2.
Here's and interesting article that indicates that Photoshop for Linux may be available in the not-too-distant future.
i run windows for the reason of photoshop alone, the gimp is alrite, but in my eyes its no where near as good as photoshop
they should hurry up n put in on linux, if they made it for os x then they can do a little more work to port it to linux.. ciao |
