adding repos to Synaptic
I do not think this would make a difference, but I am using Ubuntu 5.04 Hoary. I am trying to add a repository in Synaptic. Please do not tell me the obvious. I have tried that. I found repositories from one of the menus and went to it. There may be more than one way to add these. I saw "APT line:". It takes a special syntax not with repos link only. Some people say find repository from the menu and add it, but it is not that simple. I tried to. There are some repositories already in there that can be activated. I have done that, but what I am trying to do now is add one that will give me qt4 for xorg. Thanks. I have also been to wiki for help. Wiki showed examples, but did not really explain what any of it meant.

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Type that in a terminal, it will open your sources.list in gedit then add the repository, then save. Open Synaptic and reload or run apt-get update in a terminal a repository listing will look something like: deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free Where did you find a repository for qt4? |

Linspire
Does anyone have any repositories I can add to /etc/atp/sources.list in Linspire. I've read a few places that Linspire uses standard debian packages and has two Debian packages by default. That is not enough software though. Is there more I can add?

Use caution when adding debian repositories to an Ubuntu installation. Some of them work, and some don't.
