Adding music to Rhythmbox

I am a newbie so I only know the basics of working with Linux

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Gnome

Started Rythmbox from a terminal. Won't add my music to the folder.
Quit Rhythmbox and got these errors

dad@joe-MS-7798:~$ rhythmbox

(rhythmbox:19554): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Errorrg.gnome.SessionManager.AlreadyRegistered: Unable to register client

(rhythmbox:19554): Gtk-WARNING **: Duplicate child name in GtkStack: Add to Playlist

What needs to be adjusted ?

Try opening the application itself and click 'import'.
Than select folder location of your music, click Open.

Thank you for the website Ztcoracat. I followed the instructions they provided an it still does not work. That is why I provided the error messages that the terminal gave me. I'm not sure what it means that GTK "failed to register client". Is there a place to go to to figure out theses errors?

Interesting. I didn't use the import button to add music to mine. Here's how I did it.

Rhythmbox's menu* -> Edit -> Preferences -> Library Location

*To get to this menu is hard to explain. With Rhythmbox selected, it's at the top left of the screen; you can force it to show up by holding the ALT key if you're not sure.

Then set the library location to the "top" directory of wherever you store your music. I suppose one could even set it to your home directory and make rhythmbox scan the whole dir for music files. Or maybe set it to just one folder in your home directory, like Music. Or whatever you like.

Once your music is scanned and added, make sure you select the "Music" tag under the "Library" title in the main GUI. It's easy to click the wrong one.

...

My version of Rhythmbox displays those errors in the terminal, too. You'll find that a lot of GUI programs emit a lot of debugging noise when started at the terminal.

You're Welcome.

I looked up the error.
I think the GTK theme needs adjusted. (think) It could also be a plugin issue or a webkit dependencey. I'm looking online to find out more information on the error you have.
Here's what I've found so far:-

https://plus.google.com/+JDRichards/posts/Gs4AkECfzWS

https://github.com/fossfreedom/cover...ser/issues/382

Further reading online leads me to people posting that the error means that Rythmbox is crashing.

You could install and try Clementine or Sound Juicer.
Sound Juicer might already be in your Software Center.

Code:
(rhythmbox:19554): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error
This could also be a Nautilus error.
