Getting Chinese to work in GNOME

Hi,

I speak English primarily, but would like to use the the Chinese Localized Environment as well. I like how the GDM login manager allows you to choose your language at login, but I don't see Chinese as an option. I apt-got the chinese localization for KDE, but can't find a similar packaged for Gnome.

Has anyone had success adding languages? I notice that Japanese is available for me as a choice and on the Gnome website, Chinese is apparently supported.

Please help,

Will

ADD'L INFO: I'm using gdm logon 2.6.06
UPDATED Subject to be more descriptive.

Possible solution

dpkg-reconfigure locales

The above command (works in debian) takes a while, so I wanted to update this as I waited. GNOME does inherently support it, as long as it's defined in locales.

Hopefully, if anyone is having problems getting chinese or any other language to work in GNOME or anything debian, run the above command and pick your desired locales.

ADDENDUM: It works! A restart was necessary for me.
