Adding EXIF DateTimeOriginal data to a photo

I have some old scanned images I want to add a date.
jhead allows me to batch process adding certain YYYY:MM to all Exif files in a folder.
The problem is that it only changes DateTime parameter
I need to create/change DateTimeOriginal
How may this be possible?
Thank you

I'd be willing to bet that the ImageMagick suite has something for this---but I can't find it at the moment.

I did find some references to tools for exif data, eg: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

It seems it would be fine because I can change any tag and DateTimeOriginal's tag is 0x9003.
Tomorrow I will try it (I also need a batch process to all content of a folder but this can be done with a small script if the program lacks this ability).
Thank you!

Great, this is the best. All sort of things can be done with exiftools.
If conditions too!
Shame on me, it was already installed in my system.
Thanks!
