adding different file formats to kaffeine player

I have been using Suse linux since 10.0 about 1 1/2 years current is 10.2.
I have several FTV files downloaded from the internet.
And I know Kaffeine will play them But.
In order to do so you must click on file and select Kaffeine each time from application list.
How can if possible a person select kaffeine as the default player for FTV files.
Other words have Kaffeine automaticly open when a FTV file is selected.
Can this be done?
Perhaps some one knows a command line to set Kaffeine as the default FTV file player.
Any help?
Thanks

If you are using the KDE desktop, do the following: Right click the file and select open with--> other, type kaffeine in the Open With box, then put a tick in Remember application assosciation for this type of file then click ok.

If you don't get the option to Remember application association, start your KDE Control Centre (kcontrol) then go to KDE Components--> File Associations, type ftv in the Find filename pattern box. Select the file when it is displayed in the Known Types box and on the right you will see a list of applications. If Kaffeine is in the list, click on it and move it up the order of preference, if it is not in the list then add it and make sure it is at the top of the preference list.

Thanks {BBI}Nexus{BBI} I will give that a try.
As you said having the option to use Kaffeine each time was grayed out.

Well I tried exactly what {BBI}Nexus{BBI} said to do, at first I had not completed all the info required.
But on a second glance I added *.flv (it was a flv file instead ftv)to the info and everything worked.
Thanks for your help!
