adb server not working/ running in terminal, autoprompt

I installed android SDK tools. Everything seems ok executable adb file in android-SDK tools/platform-tools. I've set into directory and tried ./adb.bin or adb shell, then open with autoprompt and nothing worked. I installed eclipse juno mobile - add ADT plugin - and it said the adb file isn't existing in the directory /platform-tools but it's right there( I also checked the entire path). I wanna root android-gingerbread 2.3 on LG optimus c660 pro

it seems to be linux problem - I can't run the adb on my PC, and yet I've another problem I want to install skype and open it with double left click with auto prompt then through terminal ./skype ./skype.bin and bash said: no such file or directory but it's there&executable. It's gear wheel icon( I'm runnin LMDE 13mate) - I think that'll be the same problem for the same type of file
