Active Directory, Samba and Kubuntu 8.04.2
Hallo:
I'm trying to integrate KUbuntu 8.04.2 with Active Directory.
I know there's a package called LikeWise-Open which does this work.
Installation is very easy (included in repositories) and for configuration it asks you only for the domain you want to join (with a GUI). It allows you to:
- Authenticate to Ubuntu with user/pass of the Active Directory
- Creates the home directory
- Change password of AD.
But has some limitations.
- Doesn't allow to share folders and printers with Windows clients (tried with last release and also unable).
- Doesn't access windows share folders using kerberos (mount -t cifs share mount -o krb5i,...)
- Doesn't save uid/gid in Windows 2003 SR2 extension attributes for Linux (NIS) (possible but not in the open package, you have to pay for the module).
So I'm trying to configure Samba. It works fine with RedHat 5 so I'd like to do the same with Ubuntu (Kubuntu 8.04).
Please, can any tell me how can I configure my machine to integrate Kubuntu with AD using Samba? What I try is what is supposed that samba does which is:
- Authenticate users using user/pass form AD.
- Create home dir.
- Share folders with windows clients using user/pass of AD.
- Mount windows shares (cifs) using kerberos authentication.
- Change user password of AD.
I'm looking for someone who has been able to work this fine. Don't send me links talking about documentation... I've spent a lot of time trying things that doesn't work...
Thanks
