Active Directory: no access after pbis upgrade

Hello,
a couple of days ago, at work, we updated the active directory software (pbis) on my ubuntu 16.04 because the old version (8.0.xxxx) was often crashing. Before moving to the 16.04 LTS I had a 14:04 and everything worked well.
Unfortunately, at the reboot after the update I was no longer able to logon on my account: The system said "incorrect or missing password"
I did a login as root and I verified that the computer was still linked to the domain, but there was no way to disconnect it due to a password problem.

I went to look at the log files and I've seen a couple of mistakes due to lack of pam_kwallet.so and pam_kwallet5.so libraries
I installed the libraries and now these errors have disappeared, but I still do not have access.
I then noticed the lack of the nsswitch.conf file, but in its place is present the nsswitch.conf.lwidentity file

My colleague of the ITC dept said that it seems the PC was not able to communicate with the windows server from which to download the password. For him it is better to reinstall everything from scratch.
Please, do you have any suggestions on how to restore the connection to the server? I would not re-install the PC.

Thank you
Claudio
