Acrobat reader 7.0 plugin for opera

Hi all,
I just switched to opera 8.0final and tried to install Acrobat Reader 7.0 plugin. I copied the nppdf.so
to the plugin directory and from the preference it looks ok. But whenever I opened a pdf file, I got a black screen in the browser. The 5.0 plugin works well, but I can't understand why 7.0 doesn't. I checked other thread and found contradictory results. Someone's beta opera can use Adobe reader 7.0 within browser.
Any suggestion is welcome!
Thanks a lot!

not sure. i know i have no problems with adobe 7 plugin and opera 8. did you download this from adobe's main reader page? that's the only thing i can think of. in your case, i'd suggest getting the latest of adobe acrobat ( i think the latest version date should be 3/21/2005 - you'll see the date on the splash screen). on opera, i'd give the static rpm or tar.gz file a go also. i've never had too much success with opera using the dynamic versions.

edit: also, instead of copying the reader plugin directly, try making a link to it inside the opera plugins folder instead.

Thanks for you suggestion.
The way I solve this is kind of awkward. First, I found the plugin works well for root user. Then, I deleted .opera folder in my own home directory and make sure only following two plugin directories are used -- /usr/lib/opera/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Actually I put nppdf.so in both of them when I was trying to solve this problem by various means, so I have two acrobat reader plugins recognized at the same time. After opera regenerate .opera for me, the plugin works. I still don't know what exactly happened.

When I had such a problem, the pdf files can only be dealt with the pdf plugin by moziplugger. This cannot be changed even if I had nppdf.so in the plugin path. After deleting .opera and restarting opera, I had the freedom to choose between moziplugger and nppdf.so

Next time, maybe I should try using dynamic link.
