Unhappy Acpi :(

I have problem with acpi

So, at boot time it is loaded (I think) :

root@bialy:~# dmesg | grep -i acpi
BIOS-e820: 000000000fff0000 - 000000000fff3000 (ACPI NVS)
BIOS-e820: 000000000fff3000 - 0000000010000000 (ACPI data)
Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=lin_tst_fsproc ro root=2103 acpi=force
tbxface-0099 [01] Acpi_load_tables : ACPI Tables successfully loaded
ACPI Namespace successfully loaded at root c03ba360
ACPI: Core Subsystem version [20011018]
evxfevnt-0081 [-19] Acpi_enable : Transition to ACPI mode successful
ACPI: Subsystem enabled

But when I am trying to load acpid I've got :

root@bialy:~# acpid
acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: No such file or directory

Any ideas ?
(I am using Slack 9.0 kernel 2.4.20)

What hardware are you on, did you incorporate
the patches from http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/acpi ?

Cheers,

i understand when you see acpid:

can't open /proc/acpi/event: No such file or directory

its either your kernel ain't support acpi (which doesn't look like it, ur kernel looks quite new)

or your motherboard don't support acpi. u sure ur motherboard use acpi, not APM?

i would check w/ ur motherboard first.
